Network Control Panel

Note: The configuration of the TCP/IP protocol will affect any Dial-Up Networking (DUN) connections that use TCP/IP. If you use DUN for any kind of dial-up connection other than WonderWave.net, please consult your support contact for that connection before making any changes. In addition, if the PC you are using is connected to an internal network, or LAN, consult your administrator before making any changes.

  • From the Start button, choose Settings, and then Control Panel.
  • Double-click on Network.
  • Under the Configuration tab, Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP (or TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter, depending on what components are installed) must exist in the list of installed components. If either of these components are not installed, contact your PC vendor.
  • Click once on TCP/IP, and then on Properties.

  • Under the IP Address tab, make sure that Obtain an IP address automatically is selected.

  • Under the WINS Configuration tab, make sure that Disable WINS Resolution is selected.

  • Under the Gateway tab, make sure that the Installed gateways box is empty. If there are any numbers listed in the box, they should be removed.

  • Under the DNS Configuration tab, make sure that Disable DNS is selected.

  • Click on OK and then on OK again.
