FreePPP Setup
Open the FreePPP Setup by
either of the following methods:
- Click on the FreePPP icon
in
the upper right-hand corner of the Macintosh screen, then select Setup.
OR
- Double-click
on the hard drive icon on the desktop (normally in the
upper right-hand corner).
- Open the folder
labeled, WonderWave Internet Access.
- Double-click
on the icon labeled, FreePPP Setup.
- Once in FreePPP
Setup, you will notice a little blue arrow that
will be pointed down or to the right. If it is pointing
down, click on the Accounts tab. If the arrow
is pointing to the right, click on it. The arrow will
then point down and you will see the Accounts tab.
- Click
on the Accounts tab. WonderWave or WonderWave.net will
either be highlighted or will be
one of the choices you may highlight.
Highlight it and click on the Edit button.
Note: If WonderWave.net is
not listed, you may click on the New button and enter the name, WonderWave.net.
You will then be placed in the edit screen.
- Enter the following information
in the edit screen:
- For Phone number,
enter in 1-815-653-0305.
- For Connect,
verify that Directly is selected.
- For User
name, enter your User ID.
- For Password,
enter your password or leave it blank if you
wish to be prompted for the password during each
login.
- Select the Connection tab
and enter the following information.
- For Port
Speed, enter the appropriate port speed for
your modem. A 14.4 Kbps modem should be set to
19200, 28.8 Kbps should be 38400, and 33.6 Kbps
and 56 Kbps modems should be 57600.
- For Flow
Control, set it to CTS & RTS (DTR).
- For Modem
init string, the field will be either blank
or will contain a series of letters and symbols.
For information on your modem
init string, contact either Macintosh or
your modem vendor.
- Click
on the OK button.
You can now either start
the dialer by clicking on Connect or
close the dialer by clicking
on the grey square in the
upper left-hand corner of
the FreePPP Setup window.
Note: To
complete the configuration of your Macintosh, you must
also enter the DNS information. Click on MacTCP or TCP/IP to
enter these settings.
